Worship in the Splendor of Holiness
1 cOh dsing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Sing to the Lord, ebless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 fDeclare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For ggreat is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is hto be feared iabove all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 jAscribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the Lord the kglory due his name;
bring an offering, and lcome into his courts!
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;1
mtremble before him, all the earth!
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord nreigns!
oYes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.”
11 pLet the heavens be glad, and qlet the earth rejoice;
rlet the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest ssing for joy
13 tbefore the Lord, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
The Lord Reigns
1 The Lord ureigns, vlet the earth rejoice;
let the many coastlands be glad!
2 wClouds and thick darkness are all around him;
xrighteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 yFire goes before him
and burns up his adversaries all around.
4 His zlightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5 The amountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the bLord of all the earth.
6 The cheavens proclaim his righteousness,
and dall the peoples see his glory.
7 All worshipers of images are eput to shame,
who make their boast in worthless idols;
fworship him, all you gods!
8 Zion hears and is gglad,
and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
because of your judgments, O Lord.
9 For you, O Lord, are hmost high over all the earth;
you are exalted far iabove all gods.
10 O you who love the Lord, jhate evil!
He kpreserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown1 for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and lgive thanks to his holy name!
9 “Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
a pot among earthen pots!
Does the uclay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
or ‘Your work has no handles’?
10 Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’
or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’”
11 Thus says the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him:
“Ask me of things to come;
will you command me concerning my vchildren and the work of my hands?1
12 I made the earth
and created man on it;
it was my hands that wstretched out the heavens,
and I commanded all their host.
13 I have xstirred him up in righteousness,
and I will make all his ways level;
he shall ybuild my city
and set my exiles free,
znot for price or reward,”
says the Lord of hosts.
The Lord, the Only Savior
14 Thus says the Lord:
“The wealth of aEgypt and the merchandise of Cush,
and the Sabeans, men of stature,
shall come over to you and be yours;
they shall bfollow you;
they shall come over in chains and cbow down to you.
They will plead with you, saying:
d‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other,
no god besides him.’”
15 Truly, you are a God who hides himself,
O God of Israel, the Savior.
16 All of them are eput to shame and confounded;
the makers of idols go in confusion together.
17 But Israel is saved by the Lord
with everlasting salvation;
fyou shall not be put to shame or confounded
to all eternity.
18 For thus says the Lord,
gwho created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it empty,
he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the Lord, and there is no other.
19 hI did not speak in secret,
in a land of darkness;
I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,
‘Seek me in vain.’2
I the Lord speak the truth;
I declare what is right.
20 “Assemble yourselves and come;
draw near together,
you survivors of the nations!
They have no knowledge
who icarry about their wooden idols,
and keep on jpraying to a god
that cannot save.
21 Declare and present your case;
let them take counsel together!
Who ktold this long ago?
Who declared it of old?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no other god besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior;
there is none besides me.
22 “Turn to me and be saved,
all the ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
23 lBy myself I have sworn;
mfrom my mouth has gone out in righteousness
a word that shall not return:
‘To me nevery knee shall bow,
every tongue shall swear allegiance.’3
24 “Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me,
are righteousness and strength;
to him shall come and be ashamed
oall who were incensed against him.
25 In the Lord all the offspring of Israel
shall be justified and shall glory.”
By Grace Through Faith
1 And you were ydead in the trespasses and sins 2 zin which ayou once walked, following the course1 of this world, following the bprince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the csons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the dpassions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.2 4 But3 God, being rich in emercy, fbecause of the great love with which he loved us, 5 geven when we were dead in our trespasses, hmade us alive together with Christ—iby grace you have been saved— 6 and jraised us up with him and seated us with him in the kheavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable lriches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For mby grace you have been saved nthrough faith. And this is onot your own doing; it is the pgift of God, 9 qnot a result of works, rso that no one may sboast. 10 For we are his tworkmanship, ucreated in Christ Jesus for good works, vwhich God prepared beforehand, that we should wwalk in them.
One in Christ
11 Therefore remember that xat one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called ythe circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, zalienated from the commonwealth of Israel and astrangers to bthe covenants of cpromise, dhaving no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus eyou who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our fpeace, who has made us both gone and has broken down hin his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 iby abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might jreconcile us both to God kin one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and lpreached mpeace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have naccess in oone Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,4 but you are pfellow citizens with the saints and members of the qhousehold of God, 20 rbuilt on the sfoundation of the tapostles and prophets, uChrist Jesus himself being the vcornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, wbeing joined together, grows into a xholy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being ybuilt together into a zdwelling place for God by5 the Spirit.
