How Majestic Is Your Name
To the choirmaster: according to The rGittith.1 A Psalm of David.
1 O Lord, our Lord,
how smajestic is your name in all the earth!
tYou have set your glory above the heavens.
2 uOut of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, vwhich you have set in place,
4 wwhat is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you xcare for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings2
and crowned him with yglory and honor.
6 zYou have given him dominion over athe works of your hands;
byou have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
The Law of the Lord Is Perfect
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1 bThe cheavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above1 proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 dTheir voice2 goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 eThe law of the Lord is perfect,3
freviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is gsure,
hmaking wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules4 of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than igold,
even much fine gold;
jsweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from khidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from lpresumptuous sins;
let them not have mdominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 nLet the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
10 aSing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. 11 And many nations shall bjoin themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. 12 And the Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will cagain choose Jerusalem.”
13 dBe silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for he has roused himself from ehis holy dwelling.
10 For it was fitting that he, jfor whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the kfounder of their salvation lperfect through suffering. 11 For he who msanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source.1 That is why he is not nashamed to call them obrothers,2 12 saying,
p“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”
13 And again,
q“I will put my trust in him.”
And again,
r“Behold, I and the children God has given me.”
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, she himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of tdeath, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made ulike his brothers vin every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful whigh priest in the service of God, to make xpropitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For ybecause he himself has suffered when ztempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
