20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, ^ywhom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On, bore to him.

14 And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands (for Manasseh was the ⁿfirstborn).

18 And Joseph said to his father, ^t“Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”

1 ^jThen allotment was made to the people of Manasseh, for ^khe was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.
