51 Joseph called the name of the ^rfirstborn Manasseh. “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”¹

20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, ^ywhom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On, bore to him.

18 And Joseph said to his father, ^t“Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”

1 ^jThen allotment was made to the people of Manasseh, for ^khe was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.
