10 ^pHe shall build a house for my name. He shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will ^qestablish his royal throne in Israel forever.’

3 But God said to me, ^t‘You may not build a house ^ufor my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’

16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house ^gfor your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.

Preparing to Build the Temple

1 ^bNow Solomon purposed to build a temple ^cfor the name of the Lord, and a ^droyal palace for himself.

10 Now the Lord has fulfilled his promise that he made. For I have risen in the place of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
