3 “You know that ^sDavid my father could not build a house ^tfor the name of the Lord his God because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

19 Nevertheless, ^wyou shall not build the house, but ^xyour son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’

4 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: ^dIt is not you who will build me a house to dwell in.

8 But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have waged great wars. ^mYou shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed so much blood before me on the earth.

9 Nevertheless, ^zit is not you who shall build the house, but ^ayour son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’
