Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. pIf anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life1—is not from the Father but is qfrom the world. 17 And rthe world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever sdoes the will of God abides forever.
Warning Concerning Antichrists
18 Children, it is the tlast hour, and uas you have heard that vantichrist is coming, so wnow many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 20 But you have been xanointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.2 21 I write to you, ynot because you do not zknow the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that aJesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will babide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the cpromise that he made to us3—eternal life.
26 I write these things to you about those who are trying to ddeceive you. 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
How Awesome Are Your Deeds
To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm.
1 vShout for joy to God, all the earth;
2 wsing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise!
3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.
4 All the earth worships you
and sings praises to you;
they sing praises to your name.” Selah
5 xCome and see what God has done:
he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
6 yHe turned the sea into dry land;
zthey passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
7 awho rules by his might forever,
whose eyes keep watch on the nations—
let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah
8 Bless our God, O peoples;
let the sound of his praise be heard,
9 who has kept our soul among the living
and has not let our bfeet slip.
10 All mine are yours, and yyours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and zI am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, athat they may be one, even as bwe are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and cnot one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be dfulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, ethat they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them your word, and the world has fhated them because they are gnot of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you htake them out of the world, but that you ikeep them from the evil one.1 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 jSanctify them2 in the truth; your word is truth. 18 kAs you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself,3 that they also may be sanctified4 in truth.
