9 “‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are ^wrich) and the slander¹ of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a ^xsynagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the ^ydevil is about to throw some of you into ^zprison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have ^atribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the ^bcrown of life.

13 “‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith¹ even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

9 Behold, I will make those of the ⁿsynagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and ^obow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have ^ploved you.

9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the ^ealtar ^fthe souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, ^gholy and true, how long before you will judge and ^havenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a ⁱwhite robe and told to ^jrest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers¹ should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

2 but do not measure ⁱthe court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will ^jtrample the holy city for ^kforty-two months.

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two ⁿwings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished ^ofor a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on ^pthose who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood¹ on the sand of the sea.

1 And I saw a beast rising ^qout of the sea, with ten horns and ^rseven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. 2 And the beast that I saw was ^slike a leopard; its feet were ^tlike a bear’s, and its mouth was ^ulike a lion’s mouth. And to it the ^vdragon gave his power and ^whis throne and great authority. 3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth ^xmarveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they ^yworshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, ^z“Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”

5 And the beast was given ^aa mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for ^bforty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling,² that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed ^cto make war on the saints and to ^dconquer them.³ And authority was given it over every ^etribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the ^fbook of life of the ^gLamb who was slain.

6 And I saw the woman, ^hdrunk with the ⁱblood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.¹

When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

4 Then I saw ^vthrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw ^wthe souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their ^xforeheads or their hands. They came to life and ^yreigned with Christ for a thousand years.
