1  Blessed is the man¹

who ^awalks not in ^bthe counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in ^cthe way of sinners,

nor ^dsits in ^ethe seat of ^fscoffers;

2  but his ^gdelight is in the law² of the Lord,

and on his ^hlaw he meditates day and night.

3  He is like ⁱa tree

planted by ^jstreams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its ^kleaf does not wither.

^lIn all that he does, he prospers.

4  The wicked are not so,

but are like ^mchaff that the wind drives away.

5  Therefore the wicked ⁿwill not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in ^othe congregation of the righteous;

6  for the Lord ^pknows ^qthe way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

1  ^jBlessed is the one whose ^ktransgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered.

2  Blessed is the man against whom the Lord ^lcounts no iniquity,

and in whose spirit ^mthere is no deceit.

3  For when I kept silent, my ⁿbones wasted away

through my ^ogroaning all day long.

4  For day and night your ^phand was heavy upon me;

my strength was dried up² as by the heat of summer. Selah

5  I ^qacknowledged my sin to you,

and I did not cover my iniquity;

I said, “I ^rwill confess my transgressions to the Lord,”

and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

6  Therefore let everyone who is ^sgodly

offer prayer to you at a time when you ^tmay be found;

surely in the rush of ^ugreat waters,

they shall not reach him.

7  You are a ^vhiding place for me;

you preserve me from ^wtrouble;

you surround me with ^xshouts of deliverance. Selah

8  I will ^yinstruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will ^zcounsel you with my eye upon you.

9  ^aBe not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,

which must be curbed with ^bbit and bridle,

or it will not stay near you.

10  ^cMany are the sorrows of the wicked,

but steadfast love surrounds the one who ^dtrusts in the Lord.

11  ^eBe glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,

and ^fshout for joy, all you ^gupright in heart!

1  How ^rlovely is your ^sdwelling place,

O Lord of hosts!

2  My soul ^tlongs, yes, ^ufaints

for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and flesh sing for joy

to ^vthe living God.

3  Even the sparrow finds a home,

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may lay her young,

at your altars, O Lord of hosts,

^wmy King and my God.

4  ^xBlessed are those who dwell in your house,

ever ^ysinging your praise! Selah

5  Blessed are those whose strength is in you,

^zin whose heart are the highways to Zion.²

6  As they go through the Valley of Baca

they make it a place of springs;

^athe early rain also covers it with ^bpools.

7  They go ^cfrom strength to strength;

each one ^dappears before God in Zion.

8  O ^eLord God of hosts, hear my prayer;

give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah

9  ^fBehold our ^gshield, O God;

look on the face of your anointed!

10  For a day ^hin your courts is better

than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be ⁱa doorkeeper in the house of my God

than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11  For the Lord God is ^ja sun and ^gshield;

the Lord bestows favor and honor.

^kNo good thing does he withhold

from those who ^lwalk uprightly.

12  O Lord of hosts,

^mblessed is the one who trusts in you!
