1  O Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your ^qname in all the earth!

You have set your ^rglory above the heavens.

2  ^sOut of the mouth of babies and infants,

you have established ^tstrength because of your foes,

to still ^uthe enemy and the avenger.

3  When I ^vlook at your heavens, the work of your ^wfingers,

the moon and the stars, ^xwhich you have set in place,

4  ^ywhat is man that you are ^zmindful of him,

and ^athe son of man that you ^bcare for him?

5  Yet you have made him a little lower than ^cthe heavenly beings²

and crowned him with ^dglory and honor.

6  You have given him ^edominion over the works of your hands;

^fyou have put all things under his feet,

7  all sheep and oxen,

and also the beasts of the field,

8  the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,

whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

9  O Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

1  ⁱThe heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above¹ proclaims his handiwork.

2  Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

3  There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

4  ^jTheir ^kvoice² goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for ^lthe sun,

5  ^mwhich comes out like ⁿa bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6  Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7  ^oThe law of the Lord is perfect,³

^previving the soul;

^qthe testimony of the Lord is ^rsure,

^smaking wise ^tthe simple;

8  ^uthe precepts of the Lord are right,

rejoicing the heart;

the commandment of the Lord is ^vpure,

^wenlightening the eyes;

9  the fear of the Lord is clean,

enduring forever;

the rules⁴ of the Lord are ^xtrue,

and righteous altogether.

10  More to be desired are they than ^ygold,

even much ^zfine gold;

^asweeter also than honey

and drippings of ^bthe honeycomb.

11  Moreover, by them is your servant warned;

^cin keeping them there is great reward.

12  ^dWho can discern his errors?

^eDeclare me innocent from ^fhidden faults.

13  ^gKeep back your servant also from ^hpresumptuous sins;

let them not have ⁱdominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless,

and innocent of great transgression.

14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

be acceptable in your sight,

O Lord, my ^jrock and my ^kredeemer.

1  Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,¹

^cascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2  Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

worship the Lord in ^dthe splendor of holiness.²

3  The voice of the Lord is over ^ethe waters;

the God of glory ^fthunders,

the Lord, over many waters.

4  The voice of the Lord is ^gpowerful;

the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5  The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

the Lord breaks ^hthe cedars of Lebanon.

6  He makes Lebanon to ⁱskip like a calf,

and ^jSirion like a young ^kwild ox.

7  The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.

8  The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;

the Lord shakes the wilderness of ^lKadesh.

9  The voice of the Lord makes ^mthe deer give birth³

and strips the forests bare,

and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10  The Lord sits enthroned over ⁿthe flood;

the Lord sits enthroned ^oas king forever.

11  May the Lord give ^pstrength to his people!

May the Lord bless⁴ his people with ^qpeace!

1  ^hShout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous!

ⁱPraise befits the upright.

2  Give thanks to the Lord with the ^jlyre;

make melody to him with ^jthe harp of ^kten strings!

3  Sing to him ^la new song;

play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

4  For the word of the Lord is upright,

and all his work is done in ^mfaithfulness.

5  He ⁿloves righteousness and justice;

^othe earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

6  By ^pthe word of the Lord the heavens were made,

and by ^qthe breath of his mouth all ^rtheir host.

7  He gathers the waters of the sea as ^sa heap;

he ^tputs the deeps in storehouses.

8  Let all the earth fear the Lord;

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

9  For ^uhe spoke, and it came to be;

he commanded, and it stood firm.

10  The Lord ^vbrings the counsel of the nations to nothing;

he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

11  ^wThe counsel of the Lord stands forever,

the plans of his heart to all generations.

12  ^xBlessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

the people whom he has ^ychosen as his heritage!

13  The Lord ^zlooks down from heaven;

he sees all the children of man;

14  from ^awhere he sits enthroned he ^blooks out

on all the inhabitants of the earth,

15  he who fashions the hearts of them all

and observes all their deeds.

16  ^cThe king is not saved by his great army;

a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

17  ^dThe war horse is a false hope for salvation,

and by its great might it cannot rescue.

18  Behold, ^ethe eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,

^fon those who hope in his steadfast love,

19  that he may ^gdeliver their soul from death

and keep them alive in ^hfamine.

20  Our soul ⁱwaits for the Lord;

he is our ^jhelp and ^kour shield.

21  For our heart is ^lglad in him,

because we ^mtrust in his holy name.

22  Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,

even as we hope in you.

^yShout to God with loud songs of joy!

2  For the Lord, the Most High, ^zis to be feared,

^aa great king over all the earth.

3  He ^bsubdued peoples under us,

and nations under our feet.

4  He chose our ^cheritage for us,

the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

^tthe river of God is full of water;

^uyou provide their grain,

for so you have prepared it.

10  You water its furrows abundantly,

settling its ridges,

softening it with ^vshowers,

and blessing its growth.

11  You crown the year with your bounty;

your wagon tracks ^woverflow with abundance.

12  ^xThe pastures of the wilderness overflow,

8  ^xthe earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain,

before God, the One of Sinai,

before God,¹ the God of Israel.

9  ^yRain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;

you restored your inheritance as it languished;

10  your flock² found a dwelling in it;

in your goodness, O God, you ^zprovided for the needy.

11  The Lord gives ^athe word;

^bthe women who announce the news are a great host:

12  ^c“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!”

The women at home ^ddivide the spoil—

13  though you men lie among ^ethe sheepfolds—

the wings of a dove covered with silver,

its pinions with shimmering gold.

14  When the Almighty scatters kings there,

let snow fall on ^fZalmon.

15  O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan;

O many-peaked³ mountain, mountain of Bashan!

16  Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain,

at the mount that God ^gdesired for his abode,

yes, where the Lord will dwell forever?

17  ^hThe chariots of God are twice ten thousand,

thousands upon thousands;

the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.

18  ⁱYou ascended on high,

^jleading a host of captives in your train

and ^kreceiving gifts among men,

even among ^lthe rebellious, ^mthat the Lord God may dwell there.

19  Blessed be the Lord,

who daily ⁿbears us up;

God is our salvation. Selah

20  Our God is a God of salvation,

^oand to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.

21  ^pBut God will strike the heads of his enemies,

the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways.

“I will bring them back ^qfrom Bashan,

^rI will bring them back from the depths of the sea,

23  that you may ^sstrike your feet in their blood,

that ^tthe tongues of your dogs may have their portion from the foe.”

24  Your procession is⁴ seen, O God,

the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary—

25  ^uthe singers in front, ^vthe musicians last,

between them ^wvirgins playing tambourines:

26  ^x“Bless God in the great congregation,

the Lord, O you⁵ who are of ^yIsrael’s fountain!”

27  There is ^zBenjamin, the least of them, in the lead,

the princes of Judah in their throng,

the princes of ^aZebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

28  ^bSummon your power, O God,⁶

the power, O God, by which you have worked for us.

29  Because of your temple at Jerusalem

kings shall ^cbear gifts to you.

30  Rebuke ^dthe beasts that dwell among the reeds,

the herd of ^ebulls with the calves of the peoples.

^fTrample underfoot those who lust after tribute;

scatter the peoples who delight in war.⁷

31  Nobles shall come from ^gEgypt;

^hCush shall hasten to ⁱstretch out her hands to God.

32  ^jO kingdoms of the earth, sing to God;

sing praises to the Lord, Selah

33  to him ^kwho rides in ^lthe heavens, the ancient heavens;

behold, he ^msends out his voice, his mighty voice.

34  ⁿAscribe power to God,

whose majesty is over Israel,

and whose ^opower is in ^pthe skies.

35  ^qAwesome is God from his^{8 r}sanctuary;

the God of Israel—he is the one who gives ^spower and strength to his people.

4  Mightier than the thunders of many waters,

Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;

11  Let ^rthe heavens be glad, and let ^sthe earth rejoice;

let ^tthe sea roar, and all that fills it;

Then shall all ^vthe trees of the forest sing for joy

13  before the Lord, for he comes,

for he comes ^wto judge the earth.

He will judge the world in righteousness,

and the peoples in his faithfulness.

2  ^aClouds and thick darkness are all around him;

^brighteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

before ^hthe Lord of all the earth.

who make their boast in ^lworthless idols;

^mworship him, all you gods!

8  Zion hears and ⁿis glad,

and the daughters of Judah rejoice,

because of your judgments, O Lord.

9  For you, O Lord, are ^omost high over all the earth;

you are exalted far above ^pall gods.

10  O you who love the Lord, ^qhate evil!

He ^rpreserves the lives of his ^ssaints;

he ^tdelivers them from the hand of the wicked.

11  ^uLight ^vis sown¹ for the righteous,

and joy for the upright in heart.

His ^aright hand and his holy arm

have worked salvation for him.

He will judge the world with righteousness,

and the peoples with equity.

You have established equity;

you have executed justice
