1  O Lord, ^fwho shall ^gsojourn in your tent?

Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

2  He who ^hwalks blamelessly and does what is right

and speaks truth in his heart;

3  who ⁱdoes not slander with his tongue

and does no evil to his neighbor,

nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

4  in whose eyes a vile person is despised,

but who honors those who fear the Lord;

who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5  who ^jdoes not put out his money at interest

and does not ^ktake a bribe against the innocent.

^lHe who does these things shall never be moved.

1  ^tBlessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is ^ucovered.

2  Blessed is the man against whom the Lord ^vcounts no iniquity,

and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3  For when I kept silent, ^wmy bones wasted away

through my groaning all day long.

4  For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was dried up² as by the heat of summer. Selah

5  I acknowledged my sin to you,

and I did not cover my iniquity;

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”

and you ^xforgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

6  Therefore let everyone who is godly

offer prayer to you ^yat a time when you may be found;

surely in the rush of great waters,

they shall not reach him.

7  You are a ^zhiding place for me;

you preserve me from trouble;

you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah

8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will ^acounsel you ^bwith my eye upon you.

9  ^cBe not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,

which must be curbed with bit and bridle,

or it will not stay near you.

10  Many are the sorrows of the wicked,

but steadfast love surrounds the one who ^dtrusts in the Lord.

11  Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,

and shout for joy, all you ^eupright in heart!

1  Sing aloud to God our strength;

^kshout for joy to the God of Jacob!

2  Raise a song; sound the tambourine,

the sweet lyre with the harp.

3  ^lBlow the trumpet at the ^mnew moon,

at the full moon, on our feast day.

4  For it is a statute for Israel,

a rule² of the God of Jacob.

5  He made it a decree in Joseph

when he went out over³ the land of Egypt.

I hear a language I had not known:

6  “I relieved your⁴ shoulder of the ⁿburden;

your hands were freed from the basket.

7  ^oIn distress you ^pcalled, and I delivered you;

I answered you in the secret place of thunder;

I tested you ^qat the waters of Meribah. Selah

8  Hear, O my people, while I admonish you!

O Israel, if you would but listen to me!

9  ^rThere shall be no strange god among you;

you shall not bow down to a foreign god.

10  I am the Lord your God,

^swho brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11  ^t“But my people did not listen to my voice;

Israel would not submit to me.

12  So I ^ugave them over to their ^vstubborn hearts,

to follow ^wtheir own counsels.

13  ^xOh, that my people would listen to me,

that Israel would ^ywalk in my ways!

14  I would soon subdue their enemies

and turn my hand against their foes.

15  Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him,

and their fate would last forever.

16  But he would feed you⁵ with the ^zfinest of the wheat,

and with ^ahoney from the rock I would satisfy you.”

1  Oh come, let us ^psing to the Lord;

let us ^qmake a joyful noise to the ^rrock of our salvation!

2  Let us come into his presence ^swith thanksgiving;

let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

3  For ^tthe Lord is a great God,

and a great ^uKing ^vabove all gods.

4  In his hand are the depths of the earth;

the heights of the mountains are his also.

5  The sea is his, for ^whe made it,

and his hands formed the dry land.

6  Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

7  For he is our God,

and we are the people of his pasture,

and the sheep of his hand.

^xToday, if you hear his voice,

8  do not harden your hearts, ^yas at Meribah,

as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,

9  when your fathers ^zput me to the test

and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.

10  For forty years I loathed that generation

and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,

and they have not known my ways.”

11  ^aTherefore I ^bswore in my wrath,

“They shall not enter my rest.”

1  ^jWhen Israel went out from Egypt,

the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2  ^kJudah became his sanctuary,

Israel his dominion.

3  ^lThe sea looked and fled;

^mJordan turned back.

4  The mountains ⁿskipped like rams,

the hills like lambs.

5  What ails you, O sea, that you flee?

O Jordan, that you turn back?

6  O mountains, that you skip like rams?

O hills, like lambs?

7  ^oTremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,

at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8  ^pwho turns the rock into a pool of water,

the ^qflint into a spring of water.
