31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man ^mglorified, and ⁿGod is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. 33 Little children, ^oyet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and ^pjust as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ 34 ^qA new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have ^rlove for one another.”

36 ^sSimon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but ^tyou will follow afterward.” 37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the ^urooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.

1 ^v“Let not your hearts be troubled. ^wBelieve in God;^{1 x}believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?² 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, ^yI will come again and will take you to myself, that ^zwhere I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”³ 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, ^a“I am the way, and the truth, and the ^blife. ^cNo one comes to the Father ^dexcept through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have ^eknown my Father also.^{4 f}From now on you do know him and have ^gseen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, ^hshow us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? ⁱWhoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that ^jI am in the Father and the Father is in me? ^kThe words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, ^lor else believe on account of the works themselves.

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and ^mgreater works than these will he do, because ⁿI am going to the Father. 13 ^oWhatever you ask in my name, this I will do, ^pthat the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me⁵ anything in my name, I will do it.
