22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus,¹ delivered up according to the definite plan and ^sforeknowledge of God, ^tyou crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 ^uGod ^vraised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was ^wnot possible for him to be held by it. 25 For David says concerning him,

29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both ^ydied and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had ^zsworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are ^awitnesses. 33 Being therefore ^bexalted ^cat the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the ^dpromise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both ^gLord and ^hChrist, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ⁱ“Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, ^j“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the ^kforgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the ^lgift of the Holy Spirit.

15 and you killed the ^hAuthor of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are ⁱwitnesses. 16 And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus¹ has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.

17 “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ^jignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that ^khis ^lChrist would suffer, he thus fulfilled. 19 ^mRepent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be ⁿblotted out,

10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the ^dname of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ^eyou crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. 11 This Jesus¹ is ^fthe stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the ^gcornerstone.² 12 And there is ^hsalvation in no one else, for there is no other ⁱname under heaven given among men³ by which we must be saved.”

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were ^juneducated, common men, they were astonished. ^kAnd they recognized that they had been with Jesus. 14 But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had ^lnothing to say in opposition. 15 But when they had commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one another, 16 saying, “What shall we do with these men? For that a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.” 18 So they called them and ^mcharged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is ⁿright in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,

30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a ^ptree. 31 God ^qexalted him ^rat his right hand as ^sLeader and ^tSavior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are ^uwitnesses to these things, ^vand so is the Holy Spirit, ^wwhom God has given to those who obey him.”

42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the ^dChrist is Jesus.

39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a ^ytree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as ^zwitnesses, who ^aate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he ^bcommanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be ^cjudge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets ^dbear witness that ^eeveryone who ^fbelieves ^gin him ^hreceives forgiveness of sins ⁱthrough his ^jname.”

28 ^oAnd though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 And ^pwhen they had carried out all that was written of him, ^qthey took him down from the ^rtree and laid him in a tomb. 30 ^sBut God raised him from the dead, 31 ^tand for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you the ^ugood news that what God ^vpromised to the fathers, 33 this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,

34 And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, ^yno more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way,

35 Therefore he says also in another psalm,

36 For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, 37 but he whom God raised up did not see corruption. 38 Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

3 explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to ^ssuffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” 4 And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout ^tGreeks and not a few of the leading women. 5 But the Jews¹ were ^ujealous, and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they ^vformed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd. 6 And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have ^wturned the world upside down have come here also, 7 and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another ^xking, Jesus.” 8 And the people and the city authorities were disturbed when they heard these things. 9 And when they had taken money as security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

10 The brothers² immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

28 for he powerfully ^prefuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the ^qChrist was Jesus.

22 To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but ^twhat the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: 23 that the Christ must suffer and that, by being ^uthe first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim ^vlight both to our people and to the Gentiles.”

24 And as he was saying these things in his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind.” 25 But Paul said, “I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I am speaking true and rational words. 26 ^wFor the king knows about these things, and to him I speak boldly. For I am persuaded that none of these things has escaped his notice, for this has not been done in a corner. 27 King Agrippa, do you ^xbelieve the prophets? I know that you believe.”

23 When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in greater numbers. From morning till evening he expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both ^bfrom the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.
