2 He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft ^trose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and ^uthe sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.

11 They have ⁱas king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is ^jAbaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.¹

7 And when they have finished their testimony, ^wthe beast that rises from ^xthe bottomless pit^{1 y}will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,

8 The beast that you saw ^pwas, and is not, and ^qis about to rise from ^rthe bottomless pit¹ and ^sgo to destruction. And ^tthe dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in ^uthe book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because ^pit was and is not and is to come.

The Thousand Years

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, ⁿholding in his hand the key to ^othe bottomless pit¹ and a great chain.

3 and threw him into ^othe pit, and shut it and ^rsealed it over him, so that ^she might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

31 And they begged him not to command them to depart into ⁱthe abyss.

7 “or ‘Who will descend into the ^jabyss?’” (that is, ^kto bring Christ up from the dead).
