4 For ^xwhatever was written in former days was written for our ^yinstruction, that through endurance and through ^zthe encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

9 For it is written in the Law of Moses, ^u“You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? 10 Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written ^vfor our sake, because ^wthe plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.

6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as ^hthey did.

11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but ^tthey were written down for our instruction, ^uon whom the end of the ages has come.

16 ^dAll Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that ^ethe man of God¹ may be complete, ^fequipped ^gfor every good work.
