16 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,^{1 q}to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, ^rthe name of the beast or ^sthe number of its name.

2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful ^ssores came upon the people who bore ^tthe mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

20 And the beast was captured, and with it ^gthe false prophet ^hwho in its presence¹ had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who ⁱworshiped its image. These two were ^jthrown alive into the lake of ^kfire that burns with sulfur.
