1 hGod is our refuge and strength,
a very present2 help in trouble.
2 Therefore iwe will not fear though the earth give way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
4 There is a jriver whose streams make glad the kcity of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is lwith us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
8 mCome, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 nHe makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and oknow that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;

My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David, awhen he was in the wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God; bearnestly I seek you;
cmy soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have dlooked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the ewatches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down into the depths of the earth;
10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword;
they shall be a portion for jackals.
11 But fthe king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall exult,
for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
The Death of Moses
1 Then Moses xwent up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, 3 the Negeb, and the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4 And the Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, y‘I will give it to your offspring.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall znot go over there.” 5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but ano one knows the place of his burial to this day. 7 bMoses was c120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated. 8 And the people of Israel dwept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for eMoses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 And there has not arisen a fprophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew gface to face, 11 none like him for all the hsigns and the wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, 12 and for all the mighty power and all the igreat deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
26 “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. 27 mFor those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the nprophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him. 28 oAnd though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 And pwhen they had carried out all that was written of him, qthey took him down from the rtree and laid him in a tomb. 30 sBut God raised him from the dead, 31 tand for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you the ugood news that what God vpromised to the fathers, 33 this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,
today I have begotten you.’
34 And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, yno more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way,
z“‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’
35 Therefore he says also in another psalm,
a“‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’
36 For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, 37 but he whom God raised up did not see corruption. 38 Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and by him everyone who believes is freed1 from everything from which you bcould not be freed by the law of Moses. 40 Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:
41 c“‘Look, you scoffers,
be astounded and perish;
for I am doing a work in your days,
a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”
42 As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath. 43 And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to dJudaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.
