1  Save, O Lord, for ^mthe godly one is gone;

for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.

2  Everyone ⁿutters lies to his neighbor;

with ^oflattering lips and ^pa double heart they speak.

3  May the Lord cut off all ^oflattering lips,

the tongue that makes ^qgreat boasts,

4  those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail,

our lips are with us; who is master over us?”

5  “Because ^rthe poor are plundered, because the needy groan,

^sI will now arise,” says the Lord;

“I will place him in the ^tsafety for which he longs.”

6  ^uThe words of the Lord are pure words,

like silver refined in a furnace on the ground,

purified seven times.

7  You, O Lord, will keep them;

you will guard us² from this generation forever.

8  On every side the wicked prowl,

as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

1  ^vHow long, O Lord? Will you ^wforget me forever?

How long will you ^xhide your face from me?

2  How long must I take ^ycounsel in my soul

and have sorrow in my heart all the day?

How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3  ^zConsider and answer me, O Lord my God;

^alight up my eyes, lest ^bI sleep the sleep of death,

4  ^clest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”

lest my foes rejoice because I am ^dshaken.

5  But I have ^etrusted in your steadfast love;

my heart shall ^frejoice in your salvation.

6  I will sing to the Lord,

because he has dealt bountifully with me.

1  O God, we have heard with our ears,

^dour fathers have told us,

what deeds you performed in their days,

^ein the days of old:

2  you with your own hand ^fdrove out the nations,

but ^gthem you planted;

you afflicted the peoples,

but ^hthem you set free;

3  for not ⁱby their own sword did they win the land,

nor did their own arm save them,

but your right hand and your arm,

and ^jthe light of your face,

^kfor you delighted in them.

4  ^lYou are my King, O God;

^mordain salvation for Jacob!

5  Through you we ⁿpush down our foes;

through your name we ^otread down those who rise up against us.

6  For not in ^pmy bow do I trust,

nor can my sword save me.

7  But you have saved us from our foes

and have ^qput to shame those who hate us.

8  ^rIn God we have boasted continually,

and we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah

9  But you have ^srejected us and disgraced us

and ^thave not gone out with our armies.

10  You have made us ^uturn back from the foe,

and those who hate us have gotten spoil.

11  You have made us like ^vsheep for slaughter

and have ^wscattered us among the nations.

12  ^xYou have sold your people for a trifle,

demanding no high price for them.

13  You have made us ^ythe taunt of our neighbors,

the derision and ^zscorn of those around us.

14  You have made us ^aa byword among the nations,

^ba laughingstock² among the peoples.

15  All day long my disgrace is before me,

and ^cshame has covered my face

16  at the sound of the taunter and reviler,

at the sight of ^dthe enemy and the avenger.

17  ^eAll this has come upon us,

though we have not forgotten you,

and we have not been false to your covenant.

18  Our heart has not turned back,

nor have our ^fsteps ^gdeparted from your way;

19  yet you have ^hbroken us in the place of ⁱjackals

and covered us with ^jthe shadow of death.

20  If we had forgotten the name of our God

or ^kspread out our hands to ^la foreign god,

21  ^mwould not God discover this?

ⁿFor he knows the secrets of the heart.

22  Yet ^ofor your sake we are killed all the day long;

we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.

23  ^pAwake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?

Rouse yourself! ^qDo not reject us forever!

24  Why ^rdo you hide your face?

Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?

25  For our ^ssoul is bowed down to the dust;

our belly clings to the ground.

26  Rise up; ^tcome to our help!

^uRedeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!

1  ^jIncline your ear, O Lord, and answer me,

for I am ^kpoor and needy.

2  Preserve my life, for I am ^lgodly;

save your servant, who ^mtrusts in you—you are my God.

3  ⁿBe gracious to me, O Lord,

for to you do I cry all the day.

4  Gladden the soul of your servant,

for ^oto you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

5  For you, O Lord, are good and ^pforgiving,

^qabounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

6  ^rGive ear, O Lord, to my prayer;

listen to my plea for grace.

7  In ^sthe day of my trouble I call upon you,

^tfor you answer me.

8  There is ^unone like you among the gods, O Lord,

^vnor are there any works like yours.

9  ^wAll the nations you have made shall come

and worship before you, O Lord,

and shall glorify your name.

10  For ^xyou are great and ^ydo wondrous things;

^zyou alone are God.

11  ^aTeach me your way, O Lord,

that I may ^bwalk in your truth;

^cunite my heart to fear your name.

12  I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,

and I will glorify your name forever.

13  ^dFor great is your steadfast love toward me;

you have ^edelivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

14  O God, insolent men have ^frisen up against me;

a band of ruthless men seeks my life,

and they do not set you before them.

15  But you, O Lord, are a God ^gmerciful and gracious,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

16  ^hTurn to me and be gracious to me;

give your strength to ⁱyour servant,

and save ⁱthe son of your maidservant.

17  ^jShow me a sign of your ^kfavor,

that those who hate me may see and be put to shame

because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
