Psalm 11

The Lord Is in His Holy Temple

To the choirmaster. Of David.

1  In the Lord I take refuge;

how can you say to my soul,

Flee like a bird to your mountain,

2  for behold, the wicked bend the bow;

they have fitted their arrow to the string

to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;

3  if the foundations are destroyed,

what can the righteous do?1

4  lThe Lord is in his holy temple;

the Lord’s throne is in heaven;

his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.

5  The Lord tests the righteous,

but his soul mhates the wicked and the one who loves violence.

6  nLet him rain coals on the wicked;

fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their ocup.

7  For the Lord is righteous;

he loves righteous deeds;

pthe upright shall qbehold his face.

2 Timothy 3:1–7

Godlessness in the Last Days

1 But understand this, that yin the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, zproud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, aswollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. bAvoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a cknowledge of the truth.
