1  ^aBlessed is the man¹

who walks not in the ^bcounsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his ^cdelight is in the law² of the Lord,

and on his law he ^dmeditates day and night.

3  ^eHe is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that ^fyields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he ^gprospers.

4  The wicked are not so,

but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6  for ^hthe Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

1  ^zThe fool says in his heart, ^a“There is no God.”

They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;

^bthere is none who does good.

2  The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,

to see if there are any who understand,¹

who seek after God.

3  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;

^cthere is none who does good,

not even one.

4  ^dHave they no knowledge, all the evildoers

who eat up my people as they eat bread

and do not call upon the Lord?

5  There they are in great terror,

for God is with the generation of the righteous.

6  You would shame the plans of the poor,

but² the Lord is his refuge.

7  Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!

When the Lord ^erestores the fortunes of his people,

let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

1  O Lord, ^fwho shall ^gsojourn in your tent?

Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

2  He who ^hwalks blamelessly and does what is right

and speaks truth in his heart;

3  who ⁱdoes not slander with his tongue

and does no evil to his neighbor,

nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

4  in whose eyes a vile person is despised,

but who honors those who fear the Lord;

who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5  who ^jdoes not put out his money at interest

and does not ^ktake a bribe against the innocent.

^lHe who does these things shall never be moved.

1  ^bThe ^cheavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above¹ proclaims his handiwork.

2  Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

3  There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

4  ^dTheir voice² goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

5  which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6  Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7  ^eThe law of the Lord is perfect,³

^freviving the soul;

the testimony of the Lord is ^gsure,

^hmaking wise the simple;

8  the precepts of the Lord are right,

rejoicing the heart;

the commandment of the Lord is pure,

enlightening the eyes;

9  the fear of the Lord is clean,

enduring forever;

the rules⁴ of the Lord are true,

and righteous altogether.

10  More to be desired are they than ⁱgold,

even much fine gold;

^jsweeter also than honey

and drippings of the honeycomb.

11  Moreover, by them is your servant warned;

in keeping them there is great reward.

12  Who can discern his errors?

Declare me innocent from ^khidden faults.

13  Keep back your servant also from ^lpresumptuous sins;

let them not have ^mdominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless,

and innocent of great transgression.

14  ⁿLet the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

be acceptable in your sight,

O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

1  ^oThe earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,¹

^pthe world and those who dwell therein,

2  for he has founded it upon the seas

and established it upon the rivers.

3  ^qWho shall ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who shall stand in his holy place?

4  He who has ^rclean hands and a ^spure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to what is false

and does not swear deceitfully.

5  He will receive blessing from the Lord

and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6  Such is the generation of those who seek him,

who ^tseek the face of the God of Jacob.² Selah

7  Lift up your heads, O gates!

And be lifted up, O ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

8  Who is this King of glory?

The Lord, strong and mighty,

the Lord, ^umighty in battle!

9  Lift up your heads, O gates!

10  Who is this King of glory?

The Lord of hosts,

he is the King of glory! Selah

1  ^oVindicate me, O Lord,

for I have ^pwalked in my integrity,

and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.

2  ^qProve me, O Lord, and try me;

test my heart and my mind.¹

3  For your steadfast love is before my eyes,

and I walk in your faithfulness.

4  I do not sit with men of falsehood,

nor do I consort with hypocrites.

5  ^rI hate the assembly of evildoers,

and I will not sit with the wicked.

6  I wash my hands ^sin innocence

and go around your altar, O Lord,

7  proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,

and telling all your wondrous deeds.

8  O Lord, I love the habitation of your house

and ^tthe place where your glory dwells.

9  ^uDo not sweep my soul away with sinners,

nor my life with bloodthirsty men,

10  in whose hands are evil devices,

and whose right hands are full of ^vbribes.

11  But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;

redeem me, and be gracious to me.

12  My foot stands on level ground;

in the great assembly I will bless the Lord.
