12 for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,
as ta father the son in whom he delights.
39 “‘See now that hI, even I, am he,
and there is no god beside me;
iI kill and I make alive;
jI wound and I heal;
and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.
11 wFor I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare1 and not for evil, xto give you a future and a hope.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
and ebring her into the wilderness,
and fspeak tenderly to her.
5 Know then in your heart that, eas a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
11 nFor the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields othe peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
6 xHumble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
