13  ^wA glad heart makes a cheerful face,

but by ^xsorrow of heart the spirit is ^ycrushed.

14  ^zThe heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,

but the mouths of fools feed on folly.

15  All the days of the afflicted are evil,

but ^athe cheerful of heart has a continual feast.

1  When the Lord ^srestored the fortunes of Zion,

we were like those who ^tdream.

2  Then our ^umouth was filled with laughter,

and our tongue with shouts of joy;

then they said among the nations,

^v“The Lord has done great things for them.”

3  The Lord has done great things for us;

we are glad.
