24  ^jOne gives ^kfreely, yet grows all the richer;

another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.

26  ^oThe people curse him who holds back grain,

but ^pa blessing is on the head of him who ^qsells it.

10  ^oWhoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast,

but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

21  Whoever ^gdespises his neighbor is a sinner,

but ^hblessed is he who is generous to the poor.

31  Whoever oppresses a poor man ^winsults his ^xMaker,

^ybut he who is generous to the needy honors him.

6  Many seek the favor of a generous man,¹

and everyone is a friend to a man who gives ⁱgifts.

17  ^cWhoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord,

and he ^dwill repay him for his ^edeed.

26  All day long he craves and craves,

but the righteous ^hgives and does not hold back.

9  ^aWhoever has a bountiful¹ eye will be blessed,

for he ^bshares his bread with the poor.

11  ^jRescue those who are being taken away to death;

hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

27  Whoever ^vgives to the poor will not want,

but he who ^whides his eyes will get many a curse.
