Korah’s Rebellion
1 Now Korah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men. 2 And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, echosen from the assembly, well-known men. 3 fThey assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are gholy, every one of them, and the Lord is hamong them. iWhy then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?” 4 When Moses heard it, jhe fell on his face, 5 and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning kthe Lord will show who is his,1 and who is holy, and will bring him near to him. The one whom he lchooses he will bring near to him.
The Supremacy of God’s Son
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, awhom he appointed the heir of all things, bthrough whom also he created the world. 3 cHe is the radiance of the glory of God and dthe exact imprint of his nature, and ehe upholds the universe by the word of his power. After fmaking purification for sins, ghe sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the hname he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
i“You are my Son,
today I have begotten you”?
Or again,
j“I will be to him a father,
and he shall be to me a son”?
6 And again, when he brings the kfirstborn into the world, he says,
l“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 Of the angels he says,
m“He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”
8 But of the Son he says,
n“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the ooil of gladness beyond your companions.”
