John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1 ^aThe beginning of the gospel of Jesus ^bChrist, the ^cSon of God.¹

7 And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, ⁿJesus, ^oSon of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”

39 ^lAnd when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he¹ breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the ^mSon² of God!”
