8  The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’

Those who handle the law did not ^jknow me;

the ^kshepherds¹ transgressed against me;

the prophets ^lprophesied by Baal

and went after ^mthings that do not profit.

31  the prophets prophesy ^pfalsely,

and the priests rule at their direction;

my people ^qlove to have it so,

but what will you do when the end comes?

13  “For ^hfrom the least to the greatest of them,

everyone is greedy for unjust gain;

and from ⁱprophet to priest,

everyone deals falsely.

10  Therefore I will give ^ttheir wives to others

and their fields to conquerors,

because ^ufrom the least to the greatest
