8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
Those who handle the law did not jknow me;
the kshepherds1 transgressed against me;
the prophets lprophesied by Baal
and went after mthings that do not profit.
22 “For my people are foolish;
they vknow me not;
they are stupid children;
they have no understanding.
They are ‘wise’—in doing evil!
But how to do good they know not.”
3 They bend their tongue like a bow;
falsehood and not truth has grown strong1 in the land;
for they proceed from evil to evil,
and they do not know me, declares the Lord.
6 Heaping oppression upon oppression, and deceit upon deceit,
they refuse to know me, declares the Lord.
24 but ulet him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
25 tPour out your wrath uon the nations that know you not,
and on the peoples that call not on your name,
vfor they have devoured Jacob;
they have devoured him and consumed him,
and have laid waste his habitation.
34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, y‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will zforgive their iniquity, and aI will bremember their sin no more.”
