16  Moreover, the men of ^qMemphis and ^rTahpanhes

^shave shaved¹ the crown of your head.

14  “Declare in Egypt, and proclaim in ^bMigdol;

proclaim in ^bMemphis and ^bTahpanhes;

say, ^c‘Stand ready and be prepared,

for ^dthe sword shall devour around you.’

19  ^mPrepare yourselves baggage for exile,

O ⁿinhabitants of Egypt!

For ^oMemphis shall become a waste,

a ruin, ^pwithout inhabitant.

^v“I will destroy the idols

and put an end to the images in ^wMemphis;

^xthere shall no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt;

so ^yI will put fear in the land of Egypt.

16  And I will set fire to Egypt;

Pelusium shall be in great agony;

Thebes shall be breached,

and ^wMemphis shall face enemies¹ by day.
