16 The Lord once called you va green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit. But wwith the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and xits branches will be consumed.

He is like ia tree

planted by jstreams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its kleaf does not wither.

lIn all that he does, he prospers.

35  aI have seen a wicked, ruthless man,

spreading himself like ba green laurel tree.1

12  xThe righteous flourish like the palm tree

and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13  They are planted in the house of the Lord;

they flourish in ythe courts of our God.

Your wife will be like ia fruitful vine

within your house;

your children will be like jolive shoots

around your table.

12  May our sons in their youth

be like cplants full grown,

our daughters like dcorner pillars

cut for the structure of a palace;

his shoots shall spread out;

his beauty shall be alike the olive,

and his fragrance like Lebanon.
