9 and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, ^band that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land ^cmelt away before you.

24 And they said to Joshua, “Truly ^rthe Lord has given all the land into our hands. And also, all the inhabitants of the land ^smelt away because of us.”

24 And ^ohe will give their kings into your hand, and you shall ^pmake their name perish from under heaven. ^qNo one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them.

24 ^rSo the descendants went in and possessed the land, ^sand you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they would.

The Fall of Ai

1 And the Lord said to Joshua, ^f“Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the fighting men with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, ^gI have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, his city, and his land.
