23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had spoken to Moses. And Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel ^qaccording to their tribal allotments. ^rAnd the land had rest from war.

44 And the Lord gave them ^drest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the Lord had given all their enemies into their hands.

4 And now the Lord your God has given ^hrest to your brothers, as he promised them. Therefore turn and go to your tents in the land where your possession lies, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan.

Joshua’s Charge to Israel’s Leaders

1 A long time afterward, when the Lord had given ^arest to Israel from all their surrounding enemies, and ^bJoshua was old and well advanced in years,
