40 So Joshua struck the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland ^tand the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, ^ubut devoted to destruction all that breathed, just as the Lord God of Israel commanded.

9 And afterward the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in ^gthe hill country, in the Negeb, and in ^gthe lowland.
