16 And this was why the Jews ^xwere persecuting Jesus, ^ybecause he was doing these things on the Sabbath.

Jesus Is Equal with God

18 This was why the Jews ^zwere seeking all the more to kill him, ^abecause not only was he ^bbreaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God ^chis own Father, ^dmaking himself equal with God.

16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not ^sfrom God, ^tfor he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, ^u“How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And ^vthere was a division among them.
