Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

3  Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are in the right,

or is it gain to him if you ^bmake your ways blameless?

6  If you have sinned, ^zwhat do you accomplish against him?

And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

7  ^aIf you are righteous, what do you give to him?

Or what does he receive from your hand?

11  ^xWho has first given to me, that I should repay him?

^yWhatever is under the whole heaven is mine.
