In the days of bShamgar, son of Anath,

in the days of cJael, dthe highways were abandoned,

and travelers kept to the byways.


Isaiah 33:8

sThe highways lie waste;

the traveler ceases.

tCovenants are broken;

cities1 are despised;

there is no regard for man.


Lamentations 1:4

The roads to Zion mourn,

for none come to lthe festival;

mall her gates are desolate;

her priests ngroan;

her virgins have been afflicted,1

and she herself suffers bitterly.


Zechariah 7:14
