6 “In the days of bShamgar, son of Anath,
and travelers kept to the byways.
8 sThe highways lie waste;
the traveler ceases.
tCovenants are broken;
cities1 are despised;
there is no regard for man.
4 The roads to Zion mourn,
for none come to lthe festival;
mall her gates are desolate;
her priests ngroan;
her virgins have been afflicted,1
and she herself suffers bitterly.
14 n“and I scattered them with a whirlwind among all othe nations that they had not known. pThus the land they left was desolate, qso that no one went to and fro, rand the pleasant land was made desolate.”
