Jehoiachin Released from Prison
31 cAnd in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed1 dJehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison.
2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, daccording to all that Jehoiakim had done.
27 and say, ‘Thus says the king, k“Put this fellow in prison and feed him meager rations of bread and water, luntil I come in peace.”’” 28 And Micaiah said, “If you return in peace, mthe Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, n“Hear, all you peoples!”
Ahab Killed in Battle
29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. 30 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, o“I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your robes.” And the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
3 But you, O Lord, are ra shield sabout me,
my glory, and tthe lifter of my head.
6 And now my rhead shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of sjoy;
tI will sing and make melody to the Lord.
13 In three days Pharaoh will llift up your head and restore you to your office, and you shall place Pharaoh’s cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his cupbearer.
1 The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord;
he yturns it wherever he will.
20 On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s rbirthday, he made a feast for all his servants and slifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.
29 For when they are humbled you say, ‘It is because of pride’;1
but he saves othe lowly.
