9  Let the stars of its dawn be dark;

let it hope for light, but have none,

nor see ^lthe eyelids of the morning,

30  They will growl over it on that day,

like the growling of the sea.

And if one looks to the land,

behold, ^rdarkness and distress;

and the light is darkened by its clouds.

7  ^rWhen I blot you out, ^sI will cover the heavens

and make their stars dark;

I will cover the sun with a cloud,

and the moon shall not give its light.

8  All the bright lights of heaven

will I make dark over you,

and ^tput darkness on your land,

declares the Lord God.
