19  Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts

the land is scorched,

and the people are like fuel for the fire;

no one spares another.

9  Behold, the day of the Lord comes,

cruel, with wrath and fierce anger,

to make the land a desolation

and to destroy its sinners from it.

13  Therefore I will make the ^kheavens tremble,

and the earth will be shaken out of its place,

at the wrath of the Lord of hosts

in the day of his fierce anger.

27  Behold, the name of the Lord comes from afar,

burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke;¹

his lips are full of fury,

and his tongue is like a devouring fire;

2  For the Lord is enraged against all the nations,

and furious against all their host;

he has devoted them to destruction,¹ has given them over for slaughter.

15  “For behold, the Lord will come in fire,

and his ^lchariots like the whirlwind,

to render his anger in fury,

and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16  For by fire will the Lord ^menter into judgment,

and by his sword, with all flesh;

and those slain by the Lord shall be many.
