2  He has gone up to the temple,¹ and to Dibon,

to the high places² to weep;

over Nebo and over Medeba

Moab wails.

^mOn every head is baldness;

every beard is shorn;

31  they make themselves ^fbald for you

and put sackcloth on their waist,

and they weep over you in bitterness of soul,

with bitter mourning.

16  Make yourselves ^obald and ^pcut off your hair,

for the children of your delight;

make yourselves as bald as the eagle,

for they shall go from you into exile.
