20  “Assemble yourselves and come;

draw near together,

you survivors of the nations!

They have no knowledge

who ⁱcarry about their wooden idols,

and keep on ^jpraying to a god

that cannot save.

7  They lift it to their shoulders, they carry it,

they set it in its place, and it stands there;

it ^xcannot move from its place.

If one ^ycries to it, it does not answer

or save him from his trouble.

5  Their idols¹ are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,

and ^zthey cannot speak;

^athey have to be carried,

for they cannot walk.

Do not be afraid of them,

for ^bthey cannot do evil,

neither is it in them to do good.”
