Isaiah 34:11

11  lBut the hawk and the porcupine1 shall possess it,

the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.

mHe shall stretch the line of nconfusion2 over it,

and the plumb line of emptiness.


Isaiah 28:17

17  And I will make justice tthe line,

and righteousness tthe plumb line;

and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,

and waters will overwhelm the shelter.


Lamentations 2:8

gThe Lord determined to lay in ruins

hthe wall of the daughter of Zion;

ihe stretched out the measuring line;

he did not restrain his hand from destroying;

jhe caused rampart and wall to lament;

jthey languished together.


Amos 7:7–8

aThis is what he showed me: behold, the Lord was standing beside a wall built with fa plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand. And the Lord said to me, gAmos, what do you see? And I said, A plumb line. Then the Lord said,

Behold, I am setting fa plumb line

in the midst of my people Israel;
