2  ^gHear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth;

for the Lord has spoken:

^h“Children¹ have I reared and brought up,

but they have rebelled against me.

4  Ah, sinful nation,

a people laden with iniquity,

^joffspring of evildoers,

children who deal corruptly!

They have ^kforsaken the Lord,

they have ^ldespised the Holy One of Israel,

they are utterly ^mestranged.

1  “Ah, stubborn ^lchildren,” declares the Lord,

“who carry out a plan, but not mine,

and who make an alliance,¹ but not of my Spirit,

that they may add sin to sin;

9  For they are a ^rrebellious people,

lying children,

children unwilling to hear

the instruction of the Lord;

6  I will say to the north, Give up,

and to the south, Do not withhold;

^abring my sons from afar

^band my daughters from the end of the earth,

11  Thus says the Lord,

the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him:

“Ask me of things to come;

will you command me concerning my ^vchildren and the work of my hands?¹
