7 Then the Lord ^aappeared to Abram and said, ^b“To your offspring I will give this land.” So he ^cbuilt there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, ^z“I am the God of Abraham your father. ^aFear not, for I am with you and will bless you and ^bmultiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

God Blesses and Renames Jacob

1 God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. ^fMake an altar there to the God ^gwho ^happeared to you ⁱwhen you fled from your brother Esau.”

2 And ^wthe angel of the Lord ^xappeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.

3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as ^vGod Almighty,¹ but ^wby my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them.

5 ^jAt Gibeon ^kthe Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.”
