Genesis 4:25–26; Genesis 6:3–8

25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, God has appointed1 for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him. 26 To lSeth also a son was born, and he called his name mEnosh. At that time people began nto call upon the name of the Lord.

Then the Lord said, zMy Spirit shall not abide in1 man forever, afor he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years. The Nephilim2 were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

bThe Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every cintention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And dthe Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it egrieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah ffound favor in the eyes of the Lord.
