1 Now after this, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, ^qEzra the son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,

The People Confess Their Sin

1 While Ezra prayed and made ^sconfession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.

26 These were in the days of ^rJoiakim the son of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the ^sgovernor and of ^tEzra, the priest and scribe.
