24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. ^dIn every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and ^ebless you. 25 ^fIf you make me an altar of stone, ^gyou shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.

4 And when you have crossed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you today, ^von Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. 5 And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. ^wYou shall wield no iron tool on them; 6 you shall build an altar to the Lord your God of uncut¹ stones. And you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God,
