15 “But vJeshurun wgrew fat, and kicked;
you grew fat, stout, and sleek;
then he forsook God who made him
and scoffed at the xRock of his salvation.
16 Then the people answered, x“Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods,
12 And they oabandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, pwho had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They went after other gods, from among the qgods of the peoples who were around them, and rbowed down to them. And they provoked the Lord to anger.
9 Then they will say, ‘Because they gabandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has hbrought all this disaster on them.’”
4 Ah, sinful nation,
a people laden with iniquity,
joffspring of evildoers,
children who deal corruptly!
They have kforsaken the Lord,
they have ldespised the Holy One of Israel,
they are utterly mestranged.
13 for my people have committed two evils:
they have qforsaken me,
the rfountain of living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.
