Do not jturn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good ksuccess1 wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall lmeditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to mdo according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Book One

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

1  aBlessed is the man1

who walks not in the bcounsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his cdelight is in the law2 of the Lord,

and on his law he dmeditates day and night.

3  eHe is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that fyields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he gprospers.
