4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came out of Egypt, and because they thired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.
9 nThen Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and invited Balaam the son of Beor to curse you,
2 for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, cbut hired Balaam against them to curse them—dyet our God turned the curse into a blessing.
5 O my people, remember xwhat Balak king of Moab devised,
and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him,
and what happened from yShittim to zGilgal,
that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”
15 Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed gthe way of hBalaam, the son of Beor, who loved igain from wrongdoing,
11 Woe to them! For they walked in xthe way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to yBalaam’s zerror and perished in aKorah’s rebellion.
14 But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold ethe teaching of fBalaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to gidols and practice hsexual immorality.
