2 And many of those who ^dsleep in ^ethe dust of the earth shall ^eawake, ^fsome to everlasting life, and ^fsome to shame and everlasting contempt.

4 ^eOn that day his feet shall stand ^fon ^gthe Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and ^gthe Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by ^ha very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. 5 And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from ⁱthe earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.¹

6 ^eOn that day ^jthere shall be ^jno light, cold, or frost.² 7 ^kAnd there shall be a unique³ day, ^lwhich is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but ^mat evening time there shall be light.

8 ^eOn that day ⁿliving waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to ^othe eastern sea⁴ and half of them to ^othe western sea.^{5 p}It shall continue in summer as in winter.

9 And ^qthe Lord will be king over all the earth. ^rOn that day the Lord will be ^sone and ^this name one.

10 ^uThe whole land shall be turned into a plain from ^vGeba to ^wRimmon south of Jerusalem. But ^xJerusalem shall remain aloft ^yon its site from ^zthe Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to ^athe Corner Gate, and from ^bthe Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. 11 And it shall be inhabited, for ^cthere shall never again be a decree of utter destruction.^{6 d}Jerusalem shall dwell in security.

12 His ^gwinnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and ^hgather his wheat into the barn, ⁱbut the chaff he will burn with ^junquenchable fire.”

The Final Judgment

31 ⁱ“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, ^jthen he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him ^kwill be gathered ^lall the nations, and ^mhe will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates ⁿthe sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then ^othe King will say to ^pthose on his right, ‘Come, you ^qwho are blessed by my Father, ^rinherit ^sthe kingdom ^tprepared for you ^ufrom the foundation of the world. 35 For ^vI was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you ^wgave me drink, ^xI was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 ^vI was naked and you clothed me, ^yI was sick and you ^zvisited me, ^aI was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And ^bthe King will answer them, ^c‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these ^dmy brothers,¹ you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ^e‘Depart from me, you ^fcursed, into ^gthe eternal fire prepared for ^hthe devil and his angels. 42 For ⁱI was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, ^jyou did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away ^kinto eternal punishment, but the righteous ^kinto ^leternal life.”

23 and in ^kHades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and ^lsaw Abraham far off and Lazarus ^jat his side. 24 And he called out, ^m‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and ⁿcool my tongue, for ^oI am in anguish in this flame.’

10 and ^ato wait for his Son ^bfrom heaven, ^cwhom he raised from the dead, Jesus ^dwho delivers us from ^ethe wrath to come.

The Coming of the Lord

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, ^gthat you may not grieve as others do ^hwho have no hope. 14 For ⁱsince we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him ^jthose who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you ^kby a word from the Lord,¹ that ^lwe who are alive, who are left until ^mthe coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For ⁿthe Lord himself will descend ^ofrom heaven ^pwith a cry of command, with the voice of ^qan archangel, and ^rwith the sound of the trumpet of God. And ^sthe dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be ^tcaught up together with them ^uin the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so ^vwe will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

9 For God has not destined us for ^jwrath, but ^kto obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

9 They will suffer the punishment of ^peternal destruction, ^qaway from¹ the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

10 ^eBecause you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try ^fthose who dwell on the earth. 11 ^gI am coming soon. ^hHold fast what you have, so that no one may seize ⁱyour crown. 12 ^jThe one who conquers, I will make him ^ka pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him ^lthe name of my God, and ^mthe name of the city of my God, ^mthe new Jerusalem, ⁿwhich comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own ^onew name.

10 he also will drink ^wthe wine of God’s wrath, ^xpoured full strength into the cup of his anger, and ^yhe will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And ^zthe smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and ^athey have no rest, day or night, these ^uworshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

The Rider on a White Horse

11 Then I saw ^jheaven opened, and behold, ^ka white horse! The one sitting on it is called ^lFaithful and True, and ^min righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 ⁿHis eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are ^omany diadems, and he has ^pa name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in ^qa robe dipped in¹ blood, and the name by which he is called is ^rThe Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, ^sarrayed in fine linen, white and pure, ^twere following him on white horses. 15 ^uFrom his mouth comes a sharp sword ^vwith which to strike down the nations, and ^whe will rule² them with a rod of iron. ^xHe will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh ^yhe has a name written, ^zKing of kings and Lord of lords.

The Thousand Years

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, ⁿholding in his hand the key to ^othe bottomless pit¹ and a great chain. 2 And he seized ^pthe dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and ^qbound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into ^othe pit, and shut it and ^rsealed it over him, so that ^she might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

4 Then I saw ^tthrones, and ^useated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw ^vthe souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those ^wwho had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. ^xThey came to life and ^yreigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 ^zBlessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such ^athe second death has no power, but they will be ^bpriests of God and of Christ, and they ^cwill reign with him for a thousand years.
